Inspiration and Motivation

One thing that I’ve begun doing lately is making motivational posters for myself. It all started at a guest blog, but now I’m making them all of the time … or taking them from the internet, because that’s faster. But as a writer, I often find myself in need of motivation and inspiration, and one look at a cloudy sky, and a caption that says DREAM BIG, and suddenly, I’m dreaming big!

Okay, that’s a lie (not the guest post part; those are here.) I’m more of a demotivational poster girl than a motivational poster one. But this is all just a way to introduce Jill’s new cover, which she revealed last night. Or at least … I’m going to introduce pieces of that cover. This is Odd Shots, after all.

So, here are your motivational posters for Friday and through the weekend. Copy them to your desktop, print them out, stroke them at night. Whatever you do with them … we’ll never tell.

    Ha ha!

    Sigh. So pretty. So smooth.

  2. blodeuedd says:

    I am motivated :D
    Just look at that…

  3. Ying says:

Thanks Meljean! This post has arrived just in time! I’ve just received an email from our secretary that our stationery order has arrived and yippee!! I have a big pack of screen wipes. People might think I was perving over Jill’s new cover and stroking my screen but NO, I was just cleaning it. Honest!

The only thing these motivational posters achieved is for me to drool over and not getting much else done. :P

  4. B-ster says:

You all crack me up! This totally reminded me of something my mom used to say, which I’m sure she stole from somewhere else. “Even Brad Pitt doesn’t look pretty that close up.” So something about the way Meljean superzoomed in, makes that not so smexy after all.

    • Meljean says:

Yeah, when you start to wonder if he shaved rather than waxed his chest, it’s probably a little too close.

I have to admit though — and this is from someone doesn’t usually love mantitty covers — that sweaty belly is just a happy, happy place.

      • B-ster says:

So he’s freezing cold, goosebumps and hard nipples, with sweaty abs of steel. Huh? I do agree the stomach is nice… as in niiiicccceeeee. Jill I do love the full cover!

  5. Calila says:

Such yumminess…..how am I ever going to stop staring??

    • Meljean says:

The only way I can stop looking at one of my new covers is reminding myself that I’ll never have another one if I don’t write, sigh.

But, seriously — every single cover I’ve gotten, I’ve been unable to tear my eyes away for a long, long time.

I can imagine exactly what Jill’s doing to hers.

  6. Ronnie aka Readsalot says:

How can I say this without coming across as a total nerd? ( Probably NOT possible)

Book covers are sooooo pretty. The people on them, I’d like to take home and stuff (not in a naughty way you nuts) and put on my wall.. just like you would a piece of art… there for you to look at anytime you want. (Like a good wall painting or something)

  7. Addled Alchemist says:

LMAO @ the demotivational posters! Gotta order me some of those.

As for Jill’s cover… Remember the lickable wallpaper in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory? I’m thinkin’ book covers. Wha’cha think? Am I a marketing genius or what? Seriously, that cardstock stuff gets soggy after awhile.

(I wonder if Ying will lend me a screen wipe.)

  8. Tracy says:

Wow those are rock hard nips. He’s freezing the poor man. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind if I warm him up for a minute or two…or longer. lol Oh wait, I’m supposed to be motivated…I’m motivated to keep him warm! :)

  9. It’s a fun cover. But hey, better him to rip open his shirt in the freezing cold than us. I hate having cold bosoms.

  10. LOVE those posters. Um, what was I supposed to be thinking about again?
