Thankfulness

My thought processes this morning:

Doo-do-do-doo-do…

Must remember to do my Monday Oddshots post.

Doo-do-do-d–

Wait a second. Wasn’t Monday YESTERDAY?

*consternation*

*more consternation*

No, wait another second…

It’s Tuesday in New Zealand, but…it’s still Monday in the States, so I can sneak under the wire!!

Woohoo!

Point of this story: Today, I’m thankful for the international date line. I know many of you will be celebrating Thanksgiving soon, so how about you share something you’re thankful for today. :-)

I lost my job a few months ago, and while that sucks big donkey nuts, I know I’m probably better off than some. I’m thankful for my landlord, who instead of taking rent in one lump sum, lets me divvy it up into smaller portions throughout the month. He treats me more like a daughter than a tenant. I’m grateful for my family, who lends their support by letting me use their computer & will buy me groceries. I’m thankful for my former office manager, who’s given me great references and has helped in any way she can. And while I’m not quite thankful to have lost my job, it’s taught me something about myself and what I’m capable of.. and I am thankful for that.

I am thankful for labor and delivery pain control, heathy babies, laparoscopic surgery, potty trained toddlers, online gorcery stores that deliver, thoughtful husbands, knitting, yarn, chocolate, and authors whose writing rocks my world, like Nalini! :D

I don’t do Thanksgiving, being in Australia and all, but I’m thankful that this year is nearly at an end, I’m so very thankful that the hot weather is finally coming around, and I’m thanksful for my amazing partner. He is an incredible man. I’m thankful that the fires around NSW area have been contained, and we’ve got a bit of rain and cool weather to keep it under control. And I’m thankful for books and games. Yay!

Hmmm. This is a good idea Nalini – I’m usually so caught up in what I have to do that I forget to stop and smell the roses. I’m thankful that I’ve had the opportunity to meet some truly amazing people throughout my life. And that I had them in my life for as long as I did.

I’m also thankful that I’m still sane…mostly :) That I can still function. And I’m thankful that, even though it feel like I missed the boat in sorting myself out..I’m swimming – hopefully in the right direction :) And who knows, maybe the boat might stop to look at an orca or two and pick me up!

(((Readsalot))) All the best with the job hunting!

I had an especially rough week last week so I am thankful for amazing friends who deal with me even when I can’t deal with myself. And of course, I am grateful for cheese.

I am grateful that when the fence came down this morning, after I had left for work, the dogs turned right when they departed the yard.

They wandered down the road to the nice lady with horses, who thought they were sweet, and fed them, and put them in the warm, dry barn and called me.

If they had turned left, they would have gone to the cattle farm, and met the lady with the shotgun.

Today I am grateful for chance decisions, kind neighbors, and whole and healthy dogs.

Thank you for this. These posts lifted my spirits.

  7. Jennifer K. says:

I am thankful that the second opinion my doctor wanted on my mammogram agreed there was “nothing to get excited about” on my films. Yay!

And I’m thankful I still have a job. Good luck with finding something you like and that pays well, Readsalot.

  8. Tiona says:

Hey, Readsalot! I’m with you on the job thing. And, yes, even though I can barely pay for food, I’m still slipping by. And have more time to read wonderful books like Nalini’s! Yay!
I know, there’s so much to be thankful for! I’m thankful that I have a warm place to curl up with a good book and more time to write right now! Have a great day, everyone!
