The following is now up on the CBS website:

It’s the new cast for the Survivor season that starts in a few weeks! And not only is it a new season, but they’re bringing back previous players again and pitting them against each other – Heroes Tribe vs Villains Tribe. Some of my favorites from past seasons are back – Evil Russell, Courtney from China, Sandra from Pearl Islands, Boston Rob…
(Yes, I tend to love the Survivors that are snarky and unpleasant to others).
Survivors that I’m not so excited to see back? Rupert, for starters. Jerri Manthey. COACH. Ugh. Okay, I am torn on Coach. Part of me wants him to be back because there is sure to be craziness. Part of me wants him to disappear off my TV forever.
My husband hates Survivor, but I love it. There’s just something about seeing a team of people fighting to claw out an existence on a deserted (well, sort of) beach and willing to sell each other down a river for the promise of money. I think that’s why I appreciate the ‘less noble’ contestants – there’s no fake sense of accomplishment in having survived the struggle. They are there for the MONEY, baby!
Interesting note about yours truly – I am a Survivor nerd. I bought a buff once (Red! Samburu!) I bought the companion book that came out. I made co-workers play Survivor-type games at my office for training exercises. I could name every luxury item for the first few seasons, as well as every Survivor. I have only ever missed one episode of Survivor. It was the episode where Robb (with two B’s!) was voted off of Thailand. Probably kind of sad that I remember that. But I am just passionate about Survivor – I absolutely adore it.
How about you? What’s your guilty TV pleasure? And are you as obsessive about it as I am about Survivor?
I was a huge Battlestar Galactica fan (newer series). I have to admit, I didn’t buy any merchandise for it though. I can discuss/debate/argue about the minute details of the show, with other geeky folks at work. There was this cylon toaster that I almost bought though. A real toaster! With the red LED light and everything. It cooked the toast in a shape of a cylon head. It was sold out. *Sigh*
My tv is analog and I don’t watch it enough to justify buying the converter. The first episode of NCIS I saw was ‘Call of Silence’. I was completely hooked by the effort the team went to in helping an elderly Medal of Honor recipient who was convinced he’d murdered his best friend on Iwo Jima. Granted, I tend to snicker at least once per episode over the criminalistics, but I like the characters. I rarely get to see an airing, but my tv plays DVDs just fine.
Biggest Loser! Can’t miss an episode. My husband walks in front of me all night every week with no shirt on and tells me he doesn’t understand why I don’t attack him because compared to those men he is sooo hot lol!!
My gfs and I text each other during the show and talk about the contestants the next day and are so sad until the next season starts. Pathetic but oh so much fun
GLEE!!! Oh my how I am obsessed with Glee. I was a very big Gilmore Girl addict as well I have the first 3 series on dvd
need to get the rest
:| and yes I will be buying Glee when it is out on dvd
:|:|
Oh wow, I have all seven seasons on DVD and I was absolutely heartbroken when they ended the show then. I miss Lorelai and Rory! *sigh*
I’m addicted to Project Runway. I was channel surfing and caught the first episode in the first season, and was completly hooked. I love the clothes, Hiedi, Tim Gunn, and the drama of course! Between seasons I satisfy my craving with a rerun marathon of past seasons.
I’m obsessed with two shows: supernatural (I live dean he’s hilarious and gorgeous!!) and Trueblood (huge Eric fan in both tv and book series!!) my bf and I also constantly text while we’re watching the shows my husband gets irritated because at that time he gets COMPLETELY ignored
can’t wait for trueblood to begin again….
I meant LOVE dean not live hahahaha sorry
I love Eric. I can’t wait for Trueblood to come back.
Oh, whine, oh when is True Blood Season 2 going to be on DVD.
RIGhT!!!!! It’s torture waiting for it…I believe it starts in June
and this season it’s going to be MORE Eric!!! *jumping up and down*
oh heck yeah!!
Eric is darn yummy lookin!!
My favorites tend to get themselves cancelled… Sigh. Moonlighting. gone.
Dresden Files. gone. I could go on, but it would only make the pain increase. Wahhhh!
Oh wait – there’s still “Lie to Me”. Have to , have to, have to watch that show. And after we see it and we learn that, oh, shoulder twitches mean someone is lying, then we jab each other every time we catch a newscaster or political figure doing it on TV. Loves it I do!
Moonlight, Dresden Files, Dead Like Me, Firefly, I totally agree! Why do the good shows go away?
Firefly! Totally – I bought the DVDs! I’ll look for Dresden Files.
Firefly was totally awesome!!! I cannot get over the stupidity of those network execs for cancelling after just one series! The same for Commander in Chief. Gina Davis was simply amazing in that show.
oh, yes – I bought Dresden Files
not like the books but good in their own right
Loved Bob
I was never obsessed with anything on TV.
The only thing I was ever obsessed about (and still am) is the computer game Myst and each of its sequals (Myst, Riven, Myst III : Exile, Myst Revelation, Myst V : End of ages) and of course URU – ages beyond Myst, the online game.
I have played all of them again and again and when URU online was first closed down I even cried about the loss.
I am still visiting the URU boards and waiting anxiously for URU open source that will allow me to go back to the carvern again.
For the Myst and URU games I even bought some merchandise.
Oh, and I am obsessed about books of course.
*cringe* I hate Big Brother and all those shows for all it’s worth, and every other reality show where there’s no point but to be an ass, idiot, moron or what have you….. for $$. JerseyShore, I’m looking at you babe.
I do like some reality tv, I’m a big Top Chef fan, even though I don’t cook worth a penny. Same thing for Project Runway, I don’t like the creative editing, or projecting drama, but I do like seeing people “create”.
Loz, I’m also a HUGE Gilmore Girls fan. I have every single season, tyvm! lol Same thing w/ West Wing. I like quick & smart dialogue.
Handsome men, motorcyles, drama galore, I keep pushing SOA on FX. I’m pretty sure people are getting tired of hearing me tout that show! lol But its damn good!
Ditto on West Wing. I haven’t found another show that matches the quick pace and witty dialogue. When it was live, we would watch the episode two times in a row just to catch the subtle things we missed the first time.
The show they did after, about making a Saturday Night Live style show, and the name completely escapes me, was awesome too. And, it also got killed. Sigh.
I remember…. Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. I had to google it, but I did like it also.
Studio City on the Sunset Strip! Huge Aaron Sorkin fan! Cannot go wrong watching Bradley Whitford & Matt Perry.
60, not city, dammit. lol.
Ditto Gilmore Girls! I missed the orginals, but Soap Network runs re-runs on the weekend. Anything HGTV or Food Network – I live vicariously through these, since I don’t work on my house or cook.
I have to leave the room when any reality show is on. I cannot stand to watch people make fools out of themselves. If I had to choose between thumb screws or American Idol I would go with the thumb screws.
NCIS that’s my favorite; if I’m working I tape it to watch the next day or when I get home from work. I love Mark Harmon and his no nonsense approach to his work, the plots are believable and the cast great.
Ah, Mark Harmon, so wonderful! *sigh* Made CJ cry (obscure reference?). I do watch NCIS too, but it isn’t a huge deal if I miss it, so I don’t count myself as a uber-fan.
Not obscure! West Wing! (I cried too!)
Oh God, how I love Survivor! And to think, I didn’t watch the first season, because the whole idea of people eating bugs just totally creeped me out. My brother made me watch the final with him and I was totally hooked. But what was the deal with Survivor China? They never gave a car away in true Survivor fashion!?!
um… I don’t even own a TV… *makes herself verry small and waves into the room* I’m more into books and of course I watch movies from time to time but only in cinema or on DVD… *g*
LMAO….. You know- TJ still has that red buff….
He loves his Aunt Jill !! <3
It’s Bones for me. I didn’t discover it until halfway through the 4th season and had glommed seasons 1-3 within 2 months. Now I’m sad I only see one episode a week.
