Ilona is on the Oregon Trail

They had just left Fort Bridger when the dogs began looking hungrily at the oxen...and the kids.

"At least it's not dysentery," the wagon master said helpfully, just before Ilona pressed SPACE BAR on his fricking head.

*To head off any concerns: ILONA DOESN’T REALLY HAVE A BROKEN ARM.

HELL YES! I remember this game from elementary/junior high.

I always liked to go hunting. *snort* Not in real life mind you, but killing a fake buffalo? Game on.

Or when you cross the river and lose a crapload of stuff? Bullets, food, your family?

    • Meljean says:

lol, I was looking for a screenshot of losing the stuff fording a river, but alas — there was only the broken arm and dysentery.

They have this great YOU HAVE DIED OF DYSENTERY t-shirt for sale. I’m seriously considering ordering one.

I LOVE Oregon Trail!! I still play it every now and then on Facebook. And I totally agree with Reads, love to go fake hunting and kill 10,000 lbs of food in 30 seconds. :::giggle:::

    Ah, the classics…

Wow, that really takes me back. And I was feeling nostalgic playing Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time on my old Xbox last week.

    This made me giggle.

All my friends got to play Oregon Trail in middle school, but I never did because video games were teh evil and came from Satan. Not that I’m bitter or anything…

I remember this game. I loved it! I agree, the hunting was fun. :) Too bad our computer time at school was rarely long enough to finish the game. *sad face* Anyone have an idea on where it can be downloaded/bought?

Wow, I haven’t thought of Oregon trail in years. It’s was one of the first computer games I ever played. The very first was this awesome one where you were an explorer/archaeologist/Indiana Jones type guy running around in the desert and discovering things. It was one of those early, highly pixelated games that was super simple, but I loved it! Just wish I could remember what it was called! (I was only five).

Maybe I’ll get my mom to bring me her copy of Oregon Trail III for the heck of it. :D

  11. BAHAHAHAHAHAHA Poor Ilona:) I actually stood by some Oregon Trail ruts when I lived in Wyoming after college- they were in a state park there. Actual ruts in the ground from the wagons using the same route over and over. It was cool, except I got heat stroke that day. Kind of took away from coolness.

I remember this game from elementary school. I stopped naming the characters after my family b/c I would invariably get depressed when one of them died…and they ALL seemed to die somehow…the newer version Oregon 3 (or 5?) is much cooler and more…livable lol but nothing beats a classic.
